Emmepi — Move Outside the Box

Virtual Reality experience for industrial machinery showcase

The Challenge

Emmepi manufactures complex industrial production lines — machines that fill entire factory floors and cost hundreds of thousands of euros. Selling them means flying prospects to the factory, scheduling plant downtime for demos, and hoping the physical visit conveys the full scope of what each line can do. At trade shows, Emmepi was limited to videos and brochures while competitors with smaller products could bring actual hardware to the booth.

What We Built

A standalone Meta Quest 3 VR application that recreates Emmepi's entire production environment as a photorealistic, interactive virtual factory. Clients put on a headset and walk through the facility, approach any machine, trigger operational animations, and inspect individual components — all without being anywhere near the real plant.

The experience includes a full parts-explosion system that lets users disassemble machines to understand internal mechanics, real-time workflow visualizations showing material flow across the production line, and inline technical data sheets accessible by pointing at any component. The interface supports Italian, English, and German, covering Emmepi's core markets.

Technical Approach

The application is built with Unity HDRP using CAD models from Emmepi, optimized for real-time performance. We used our Explore framework for interactions, adding animated production sequences and technical documentation in VR.

Impact

Emmepi debuted the application at an industry trade show and saw a 40% increase in qualified quote requests compared to previous events. The VR experience became their primary sales tool for international clients, eliminating the need for factory visits in the early stages of the sales cycle. It also proved effective for technical training — new staff can learn machine operation and maintenance procedures in VR without interrupting production.
